Surfer SEO price: the plans, the trial and what each one unlocks
Surfer SEO price, the short answer: read from France on 29 October 2026, the entry plan, Discovery, costs €59 a month or €49 a month billed yearly, before VAT. Then come AI Search Analytics (€95), Standard (€119), Pro (€219) and Peace of Mind (€359), and Enterprise on quote. There is no free plan. The 7-day trial needs a card and doesn't cancel itself. The dollar prices a US visitor sees are not confirmed yet.

Verdict
Surfer sells a strong content editor from €49 a month billed yearly (€588 a year), before VAT, as shown from France. But Discovery, the entry plan, calls itself a plan to test Surfer: no keyword research, no integrations, no AI tracking. For real work, budget for Standard (€99 a month yearly) or Pro (€182). The price makes sense if you write a lot. If you first need to know what is holding your site back, Surfer is not built for it: no technical audit, no backlink analysis.
Strengths
- A Content Editor that scores your text in real time against Google's top 10 and the pages AI tools cite, from Discovery.
- Daily brand tracking in 5 AI engines, from AI Search Analytics or Pro.
- An official MCP server, a free WordPress plugin and strong team features.
Limits
- No free plan, and a 7-day trial that needs a card and doesn't cancel itself.
- Discovery has no keyword research, no integrations and no AI tracking.
- Your work is erased when the subscription ends, and prepaid annual plans are not refundable under the Regulations.
How we work: we have no affiliate link with Surfer and earn nothing if you subscribe. Our buttons go to SemChat, published by ARCHI301 in Nice, France, the company behind Haloscan. We did not test Surfer on an account. Everything below comes from its official pages and help center, read on 29 October and 30, 2026. One more thing: surferseo.com now redirects to surfer.ai. Same tool, new address.
How much is Surfer SEO? The plans as of 29 October 2026
Surfer’s pricing page changes with your country. Read from France, in English, it shows euros, before VAT. Data missing: the dollar prices a US visitor sees (planned source: the pricing page read from the United States).
| Plan | Monthly | Billed yearly, per month | Yearly total (calculated) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Discovery | €59 | €49 | €588 |
| AI Search Analytics | €95 | €82 | €984 |
| Standard | €119 | €99 | €1,188 |
| Pro | €219 | €182 | €2,184 |
| Peace of Mind | €359 | €299 | €3,588 |
| Enterprise | on quote | on quote | on quote |

Every plan has a “Start for Free” button. It doesn’t open a free plan. It opens the 7-day trial, with your card.
Discovery, AI Search Analytics, Standard, Pro, Peace of Mind and Enterprise
Discovery (€59, or €49 yearly). Surfer presents it as a plan “to test Surfer”. You get 120 documents to create or optimise, 10 tracked pages, the Content Editor with its Content Score, Surfy, the Humanizer, the AI Detector and Content Audit. One seat.
AI Search Analytics (€95, or €82 yearly). A standalone plan for tracking your brand in AI answers, sold “without any other Surfer tool in the package”. 50 prompts tracked daily in 5 AI engines, 5 seats, CSV export and MCP. Bigger tiers: 100 prompts at €185 (€158 yearly), 200 prompts at €365 (€308).
Standard (€119, or €99 yearly). 360 documents, 50 tracked pages, keyword research, ranking-drop alerts, WordPress, Google Docs, Contentful and Zapier integrations, 3 seats. AI tracking is limited to 25 prompts in ChatGPT only, refreshed weekly.
Pro (€219, or €182 yearly). Called “our most popular plan” in the help center. Daily tracking of 50 prompts in 5 AI engines, Topical Map, one-click internal linking, page Audit, data export, MCP, 5 seats. It is also the trial plan.
Peace of Mind (€359, or €299 yearly). “Unlimited*” documents, capped at 500 a month by the fair use policy; 100 prompts daily, SERP Analyzer, API access, a dedicated account manager, 10 seats.
Enterprise (on quote). SSO, custom limits, white-label reports, priority support. No public price.
What the Discovery plan leaves out
The comparison table leaves several Discovery boxes unchecked: no AI visibility tracking (“Track 0 AI prompts”), no keyword research, no integrations, no data export, no MCP, no API. You arrive with your keyword already chosen, write in Surfer, then paste your text into your site by hand.
Monthly or annual billing, before VAT
Billed yearly, you pay twelve months up front: “you’ll be charged for the entire year”. The page shows savings from €120 (Discovery) to €720 (Peace of Mind), and Surfer claims a discount of up to 17%. Payment goes through Stripe by card; bank transfer only for annual plans; no PayPal. Unused limits don’t roll over. Surfer is a Polish company and adds VAT for EU customers without a valid VAT number.
Fair use: the limits behind “unlimited”
Features without a visible cap still have one. Surfer’s fair use policy, read on 29 October 2026, sets 50,000 Humanizer words a month, 100 keyword searches a day, 100 Topical Map and SERP Analyzer runs a day, 100 audits a month, and 500 documents a month on Peace of Mind. Actions you run through the MCP server count against the same limits. Most small sites will never hit them; an agency running many brands might.
Surfer SEO cost by feature: what each plan unlocks
Surfer’s Content Editor and its real-time Content Score
Included from Discovery. Surfer reads Google’s top 10 for your country and the pages AI tools cite most, then grades your draft live. Surfer AI can write a full optimised article in about 3 minutes, in 29 languages, and Surfy helps you rework any passage in natural language.
AI Tracker: your brand’s visibility in AI search
From AI Search Analytics or Pro, Surfer checks your brand every day in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode and AI Overviews, with sources, sentiment and the gap with competitors. Extra prompts cost more: on Pro, 100 more for €90 a month, 250 for €360, 500 for €810, with no annual discount.
Surfer’s Topical Map and Content Audit
Content Audit, from Discovery, plugs into your Search Console and reviews your published pages: position, click rate, traffic, Content Score. As the product page puts it: “It monitors your position on Google. Automatically.” Topical Map, from Pro, draws the topic clusters your site should cover and refreshes every 14 days. Neither one is a technical audit: Surfer says it is “Not a backlink index, technical-SEO crawler, or Core Web Vitals tool.”
Surfer’s MCP and API: from which plan
The official MCP server lets you drive Surfer from Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or Cursor. It left beta on 5 October 2026. The help center opens it to AI Search Analytics, Pro, Peace of Mind, Enterprise and the trial; the launch announcement only names Pro, Peace of Mind and Enterprise.
The API is where Surfer’s pages disagree. The pricing grid includes API access in Peace of Mind. The homepage says the API is only for users “with the API add-on or users on an Enterprise plan”. Data missing: the price of the API add-on (planned source: Surfer’s sales team). A Rank Tracker is also sold as an option, “starting from $8.50 for every 100 keywords”.
Free Surfer tools: Keyword Surfer, AI Detector and Humanizer
No free plan, but real free tools. Keyword Surfer is a “Free Chrome Extension for Keyword Research”: it shows search volume, cost per click and keyword ideas inside Google results, with no Surfer account, for 70 countries. Surfer claims “600,000+ users”.

The AI Detector and the AI Humanizer work online: 500 words without an account, 1,000 with a free account. Surfer also emails a free AI visibility audit in about 30 minutes.
The Surfer free trial: a card, and no automatic cancellation
The trial gives you 7 days of the Pro plan, MCP included, for new accounts only. You choose a plan and enter your billing details at checkout. Surfer’s help article is blunt: “The trial does not cancel automatically.” And: “If you don’t cancel before the 7-day period ends, your chosen plan will begin, and your card will be charged.”

Put the 7th day in your calendar. Cancelling during the trial expires the account, and you lose access to what you created.
Your Surfer work is erased when the subscription ends
Surfer’s help center, read on 30 October 2026: “All your previously created Content Editors, Audits, tracked Sites, and all other work are completely erased.” Its Regulations, on the other hand, keep access to the last three months of results. The two official pages disagree. The safe move: export or copy your texts before your plan ends.
Refunds on Surfer’s annual plans
No money-back guarantee is mentioned. On a prepaid annual plan, the Regulations say “the fee for the Services is not refundable”, except for a prorated recalculation Surfer accepts. They also recall the 14-day withdrawal right of EU consumers, with its exceptions for digital services already started.
Is Surfer SEO worth the price for a small business?
Surfer’s own help center maps its plans to profiles: Discovery for solo content creators, Standard for small teams and agencies, Pro for multi-brand agencies, Peace of Mind for large companies. Its Regulations describe the site as “designed for professionals”. Support runs 24 hours a day, Monday to Friday, by chat and email.
It depends on what you need this month. If you publish several articles a week, or a writer does it for you, Surfer saves time on every page, and Pro adds AI tracking few tools offer. Standard at €99 a month yearly is the realistic starting point, since Discovery has no keyword research.
If you run a small business site and don’t yet know what is holding it back, Surfer will teach you to write a better page. It won’t tell you that a page returns an error, that a competitor has more links, or where to start. That is a diagnosis job, and no Surfer SEO price tier includes a technical crawl or a backlink index.
What SemChat costs next to Surfer: €0, then €20 a month
SemChat’s pricing page reads: “Every feature, in every plan. Just pick your monthly usage.” The Free plan costs €0 (“Try semchat with no credit card”). Starter is €20 a month (€16 billed yearly), Pro 5x €100, Pro 20x €200. The €20 became €24 with French VAT on our first invoice. The catch: one full audit used 100% of the Free plan’s monthly quota in our test on 29 October 2026. In France, SemChat relies on Haloscan data; elsewhere, on a mix of providers it doesn’t name. Full detail on our SemChat pricing page.

Surfer vs SemChat: the full comparison
The two tools can work in sequence: SemChat to know what to fix, Surfer to write the pages. The point-by-point duel is on our Surfer SEO vs SemChat page, and other options are in our Surfer SEO alternative guide.
SemChat review: the audit we ran
One sentence, about 3 minutes, a full crawl, backlinks, ten competitors, and three actions sorted by priority. The whole test is in our SemChat review.

To sum up the Surfer SEO price: €49 a month billed yearly to test, €99 to work, no free plan, and a trial that won’t cancel itself.
Frequently asked questions
Is Surfer SEO legit, and worth paying for?
Surfer is an established company: Surfer Sp. z o.o., based in Wrocław, Poland, operating since 2018 and claiming 150,000+ customers from 159+ countries (official pages, 29 October 2026). It is worth paying for if you write often and want a live score to guide you. It is not built for a technical audit or backlink analysis, by its own description.
How much does an SEO company charge?
We have no sourced figure for agency fees, so we won't invent one. Data missing: typical SEO agency rates in the United States (planned source: a dated agency pricing survey). What we can say: a tool like Surfer or SemChat costs a fraction of a monthly retainer, but you do the work yourself.
What is the Pareto rule in SEO?
It is the 80/20 idea: a small share of your actions brings most of the results. In practice, fix the few problems that block the most pages first. That is what an action plan sorted by priority, like the one SemChat returned in our audit, is meant to show you.
Is SEO free of cost, or do you need a paid tool?
SEO itself is free: Google charges nothing for organic results. Tools help you see what to do. Several have free options: Surfer's Keyword Surfer extension, Google Search Console, SemChat's Free plan (one full audit used up its monthly quota in our test), Semrush Free with 10 reports a day.
Can you cancel Surfer SEO anytime?
Yes, but read the fine print. Cancelling during the trial expires the account and you lose what you created. After a subscription ends, Surfer's help center says your work is completely erased, while its Regulations mention access to the last three months of results. Prepaid annual plans are not refundable under the Regulations, except for a prorated recalculation Surfer accepts.
