Free SEO audit: a real audit of a real site, limits included

You run a blog or a small shop, and you want to know what’s wrong in Google without hiring anyone. I tested one way on 29 October 2026: a free SEO audit of plugkit-avis.com, one of my sites, with SemChat. The site and the audit are in French; what follows is translated. Most results for this search are online checkers: paste an address, get a score and a list, but no starting point. A full audit reads the whole site, your rankings and your competitors, then sorts fixes by priority.

What’s missing: my Search Console wasn’t connected, and the report says so in section 2, so it relies on estimated rankings rather than real clicks. Missing data: format of the downloaded file (planned source: supervised session in the SemChat app).

What it found, and what was true
About 3 minutes later: 8 headline figures, a 5-point diagnosis and 3 actions. I checked the findings that day. The /fr/contact/ page did return a 404 error: true. The US and UK English pages shared the same titles: true, but they are declared as language variants (hreflang), so calling them “mirror pages” went too far.

One audit, the whole Free quota
That single audit used 100% of the Free plan’s monthly quota: Documents 39.2%, Site analysis 32%, SEO tools 28.9% (category names translated from the French screen). It reset on 28 November. On Free, plan for one full audit a month. The SemChat pricing page covers the paid plans.

Semrush Free: “$0”, 1 project and 10 reports a day. Seobility Basic: “Free forever”, 1 project, 100 pages per crawl, a new crawl 7 days after the last one.
Whichever you pick, a free SEO audit only pays off if you act on its first three fixes, write them up with an SEO report template, then check your positions next month with a keyword rank checker.
