Ubersuggest alternatives: when the free plan stops being enough
The best Ubersuggest alternatives depend on where the free plan stops you. Out of daily searches? Add Semrush Free and Google Search Console. Want your own site checked in depth? Ahrefs Free. Want a plan in plain words from the free tier? SemChat Free. Need a full suite? Semrush, Ahrefs or SE Ranking. Facts read on 29 October and 30, 2026.
This page is part of the guide: best free SEO tools
I’m Jérémy Santos. I tested SemChat on a real account on 29 October 2026; for every other tool on this page, I read its official pages, and each fact carries its date. SemChat links here are affiliate links. None of the other tools pays me.
Ubersuggest alternatives make sense when its free plan stops being enough. That free plan is real: no time limit, 3 searches or reports a day, 1 project. The question is what you need once you hit that ceiling.
Best Ubersuggest alternative for your profile: the verdict
The best Ubersuggest alternative is the one that removes what blocks you. Here’s my pick, profile by profile:
- You want more free lookups. Keep Ubersuggest Free and add Semrush Free, which gives “10 reports per day across all vital tools” with “No credit card required” (30 October 2026).
- You want to know what’s wrong with your own site. Google Search Console first, then Ahrefs Free for the sites you can prove you own.
- You want an action plan in plain words, without paying. SemChat Free: you type a sentence, it runs the audit. One full audit uses the month’s quota.
- You want a full data suite. Semrush, Ahrefs or SE Ranking. SE Ranking lets you try 14 days with no card.
- Your real problem is writing better pages. Surfer SEO, which says plainly it’s “Not a chatbot or a general-purpose AI assistant”.
- You want a chat-based tool that publishes to WordPress. ChatSEO, with a 7-day trial that needs a card, or BotSEO if you read French.
- You like Ubersuggest and hate subscriptions. Stay. Its lifetime option starts at $290 for Individual (pricing.md, 30 October 2026).
A word on the lists you’ll find in Google. On 29 October 2026, three of the pages Google drew on for its AI answer to “ubersuggest alternatives” came from ChatSEO, Keyword Tool and Morningscore. Each of them publishes a competing tool. Keep that in mind when a list puts its own product first. Mine puts SemChat in its place: third, for one profile.

Sources: each tool’s fact sheet, built from its official pages read on 29 October 2026; Semrush Free, SE Ranking FAQ and Surfer AI instructions reread on 30 October. “Not mentioned” means the pages I read don’t say, not that the feature doesn’t exist.
Is Ubersuggest’s free plan enough? Why people look elsewhere
For some of you, yes. Before you switch, look at what the free plan gives and what it holds back.
The free plan’s daily quota: searches, one project, tracked keywords
Ubersuggest’s help article “Free Account: Key Features and Limits”, updated 26 July 2025, lists:
- 3 searches or reports per day;
- 1 project with 25 tracked keywords, updated weekly, desktop only;
- a 150-page site audit per week, with no recrawl;
- 100 backlinks per site and 3 keyword lists of 30;
- a Chrome extension with 40 searches a day.

Ubersuggest’s pricing page: the free account box at the top right, the paid plans below, seen from France (prices in euros, lifetime tab selected). Screenshot of https://ubersuggest.com/en/pricing, taken on 30 October 2026.
Three searches is the limit you’ll feel first. One keyword, one competitor, one look at your site, and the day is over. If you hit that wall every morning, it’s time to look at Ubersuggest alternatives. The data is fine; there just isn’t much of it per day.
One caution. The help center answered 403 when I tried to reread that article on 30 October 2026, so the limits may have changed since July 2025.
AI Chat listed with paid plans, and no public API
Ubersuggest added a chat in its app. Its page says “Stop Clicking Through Reports. Just Ask.” and warns: “AI responses can be inaccurate. Verify numbers before acting on them.”

The page of Ubersuggest’s AI Chat, listed with the paid plans. Screenshot of https://ubersuggest.com/en/ai-chat-landing, taken on 30 October 2026.
On the pricing page, AI Chat is ticked for Individual, Business and Enterprise/Agency. Whether a free account gets it isn’t stated, and the AI Chat page says rollout to all users is still in progress.
There’s also no public API. Ubersuggest’s help says it “doesn’t have API or webhook functionality” (3 October 2025). If you wanted to plug its data into your own tools, that’s a wall.
Here’s the twist: Ubersuggest’s official MCP server, with 42 tools, works with a free account. So you can ask questions about Ubersuggest data from Claude or ChatGPT without paying, within your 3 searches a day. My Ubersuggest free guide shows how.
What Ubersuggest keeps: rank tracking, AI visibility, a lifetime option, a Chrome extension
Before you leave, know what you’d give up. Ubersuggest keeps four real strengths.
Rank tracking. Paid plans track 125, 150 or 300 keywords per project. How often? Its own pages disagree. The home page promised daily positions on 29 October 2026; the pricing page said weekly. Check in the app before you count on daily data.
AI visibility. Ubersuggest tracks how your brand shows up in AI answers. Its home page FAQ covered ChatGPT and Gemini on paid plans, with Google AI Overview on Enterprise only (read in French, 29 October 2026). Its llms.txt file names more engines. Again, the pages don’t agree.
A lifetime option. Pay once: $290 for Individual, $490 for Business, $990 for Enterprise/Agency (pricing.md, 30 October 2026). The lifetime plan covers “AI prompts on demand only”, and it’s non-refundable.
A free Chrome extension. Keyword volume, CPC and competition on Google, YouTube and Amazon, with 600,000 users shown on its Chrome Web Store listing (29 October 2026).
None of the Ubersuggest alternatives below matches all four at that price. If those four are what you use, the Ubersuggest pricing page will tell you whether monthly, yearly or lifetime fits you.
Two smaller extras also stay with Ubersuggest. Its official WordPress plugin, “Ubersuggest SEO Tools”, runs an audit inside wp-admin and applies AI fixes to titles, meta descriptions and H1 tags, alongside Yoast SEO or Rank Math (help article of 25 August 2026). And its Google Maps rank checker, on a grid of 3×3 to 9×9 points, is included in all paid plans, at 3 to 9 credits per scan (local SEO page, read in French on 29 October 2026).
What to look for in an Ubersuggest alternative
Five questions sort the field fast:
- Is there a free plan with no end date, or only a trial? A trial with a card turns into a bill if you forget.
- What’s the daily or monthly limit? Ten reports a day and one monthly quota don’t feel the same.
- Can you talk to it? Some tools have a chat built in; others only answer through Claude or ChatGPT via MCP.
- Does it read your own data? Search Console connection matters more than any third-party estimate.
- What does it cost when free runs out? Compare the entry price, then the plan you’ll really need.
Keep the answers in mind. Each tool below is described from its own pages, nothing else.
Free plan, trial or paid only: the three models
The Ubersuggest alternatives on this page fall into three groups. Knowing which group a tool is in saves you a surprise charge.
- A free plan with no end date. Ubersuggest Free, Semrush Free, Ahrefs Free, SemChat Free and BotSEO Découverte. Nothing to cancel. You hit a limit, you wait or you upgrade.
- A trial with no card. SE Ranking: 14 days, “no card required”, per its FAQ.
- A trial with a card. Ubersuggest’s paid plans (7 days, monthly only), Surfer (7 days of Pro) and ChatSEO (7 days, 30 credits). If you don’t cancel in time, the first payment goes through. Surfer says it outright: “The trial does not cancel automatically”.
Ahrefs sits apart: “We don’t provide any free trials” (help, 3 September 2026). You use Ahrefs Free on your own site, or you pay.
My habit with any card trial: set a phone reminder for the day before it ends, the minute you sign up.
Talking to your data: in the tool or through Claude and ChatGPT
“Chat with your SEO data” means two different things, and the difference matters if you’re not technical.
A chat inside the tool. You open the app and type. SemChat, ChatSEO and BotSEO are built that way. Ubersuggest’s AI Chat and Ahrefs’ Ask Ahrefs sit inside their apps too, listed with paid plans (Lite and up for Ask Ahrefs).
An MCP server. MCP is the standard that lets an AI assistant you already use, such as Claude or ChatGPT, call a tool’s data. Ubersuggest’s works with a free account. At Ahrefs it starts with Lite, at ChatSEO with Pro; at SE Ranking it comes with every subscription. You set it up once in your assistant, then ask questions there.
If you’ve never connected anything to Claude or ChatGPT, a chat built into the tool is the easier start.
Free Ubersuggest alternatives, starting with Google
Google Keyword Planner: keyword ideas, with a billing step
Keyword Planner is Google’s keyword tool, built for advertisers. Its page says “Google Ads Keyword Planner is here to help” find “The right keywords” for your ads (screenshot of 30 October 2026).

Google Ads’ Keyword Planner page, US version. Screenshot of https://business.google.com/us/ad-tools/keyword-planner/, taken on 30 October 2026.
To use it, Google’s help says “Go to Keyword planner within the Tools menu” of Google Ads. It also says you must enter billing information to access basic features like “Get ideas for new keywords” (answer 7337243, read 30 October 2026).
So it’s not a two-click tool. You need a Google Ads account with billing details, even if you never run an ad. Once you’re in, it’s a good second opinion on volumes before you pick a keyword.
Google Search Console and Google Trends: your data and what people search now
Search Console is Google’s free tool to follow your own site. Its public page says its “tools and reports help you measure your site’s Search traffic and performance, fix issues, and make your site shine in Google Search results”.

The public page of Google Search Console, Google’s free tool to follow your own site. Screenshot of https://search.google.com/search-console/about?hl=en, taken on 30 October 2026.
Start here, whatever you pick next. Your clicks, impressions and positions come from Google itself. Ubersuggest, SemChat, ChatSEO and most suites can connect to it.
Google Trends answers a different question: is interest in a topic rising or falling? In Google’s results it describes itself as a way to “Explore search interest of terms and topics by time, location and popularity” (SERP of 29 October 2026). It gives trends, not monthly volumes. Data missing: Google’s own statement of what Trends costs and its limits (planned source: Google Trends help).
Ahrefs Free and Semrush Free: two more free plans to combine
Ahrefs Free is “Not a trial”: no card, no end date. It covers the sites you can prove you own, with Site Explorer, Site Audit and Web Analytics. Its FAQ is direct: “you can’t research competitors’ sites without paying” (fact sheet of 29 October 2026). Ahrefs also has free tools that need no account, such as a Keyword Generator showing the first 100 ideas and a Backlink Checker showing the first 20 backlinks.
Semrush Free gives “1 demo project” and “10 reports per day across all vital tools”, with “No credit card required” (semrush.com/pricing/seo-ai-search/, read 30 October 2026). That’s more daily lookups than Ubersuggest’s 3. My Semrush free guide covers it in detail.
Combined, these three free plans go a long way: Search Console for your truth, Ahrefs Free for your own site’s depth, Semrush and Ubersuggest Free for quick looks at keywords and competitors. For more free tools by job, see my list of the best free SEO tools.
Paid suites that go further than Ubersuggest
Semrush: more data, a higher entry price
Semrush’s SEO plan showed €134 a month from France, or €112.52 a month billed yearly (pricing page, 29 October 2026). It covers 5 sites and 500 keywords tracked daily, with keyword research, competitor analysis, position tracking and site audit. The Starter plan of its SEO + AI search bundle lists MCP access, at €190 a month.
Data missing: Semrush’s prices in US dollars (planned source: the pricing page reread from the United States). From France, the English page showed euros too.
Semrush’s pages don’t mention a chat built into the app. Its home page invites you to “Ask AI. Get Semrush data.” through outside assistants like Claude or ChatGPT. More on its rivals in my Semrush alternative guide.
Ahrefs: its link index, plus free checkers for any site
Ahrefs Starter showed €27 a month from France; its blog, FAQ and help give $29 a month (29 October 2026). Starter includes Site Explorer, Keywords Explorer, Site Audit and Rank Tracker, with 200 credits a month. Lite, at €119 a month, adds Ask Ahrefs, its built-in AI assistant, during its beta, and its MCP server.
Ahrefs runs its own backlink index. Its Big Data page says it’s updated with new data every 15 to 30 minutes. If links are your concern, that’s its edge.
Two catches: “We don’t provide any free trials” (help article, 3 September 2026), and Rank Tracker updates weekly on every plan. Other options are in my Ahrefs alternative page.
SE Ranking: a full suite with a free trial and no card
SE Ranking’s FAQ is clear: “There’s no permanent free plan, but you can evaluate the platform with a free 14-day trial (no card required)” (seranking.com/faq.html, read 30 October 2026).
After the trial, Core costs €109 a month, or €87.20 billed yearly (pricing page, 29 October 2026). It includes 10 projects and 2,000 keywords tracked daily. Its official MCP server, with “180+ tools”, comes with every subscription.
On the pages I read, SE Ranking doesn’t describe a chat inside the platform. You talk to its data through Claude, ChatGPT or another assistant connected over MCP. See my SE Ranking alternative page for the full comparison.
Surfer SEO: when your need is writing better pages
Surfer isn’t a keyword suite like Ubersuggest. Its own AI instructions page says it’s “Not a chatbot or a general-purpose AI assistant”, and “Not a backlink index, technical-SEO crawler, or Core Web Vitals tool” (surfer.ai/ai-instructions/, read 30 October 2026).
What it does: the Content Editor scores your page as you write, with a writing assistant called Surfy. Discovery costs €59 a month, or €49 billed yearly, and is presented “to test Surfer” (pricing page, 29 October 2026). The 7-day trial of the Pro plan asks for bank details, and “The trial does not cancel automatically”.
Surfer also has a free Keyword Surfer extension with volumes and keyword ideas. If writing is your bottleneck, compare it with others in my Surfer SEO alternative guide.
Conversational alternatives: ChatSEO, BotSEO and SemChat
Ubersuggest’s AI Chat is listed with its paid plans. Three tools make the conversation the product itself.
ChatSEO and BotSEO: chat-based SEO, from their official pages
ChatSEO reads your Search Console and answers in plain words. Its home page says you enter your website and it “understands your market, spots your business opportunities”.

ChatSEO’s English home page, a chat-based SEO assistant. Screenshot of https://chatseo.app/, taken on 30 October 2026.
There’s no free plan. ChatSEO offers a 7-day trial with 30 credits, and a card saved at Stripe (pricing page and terms, 29 October 2026). Its plain-text pricing says “1 credit = 1 message sent” (30 October 2026). Starter costs €29 a month for 100 credits; its MCP server, with 38 tools, starts at Pro.
One contradiction to know: under its address field, the home page shows “Free to start” and “no credit card required”, while its pricing page and terms describe the trial with a card. ChatSEO also publishes its own list of Ubersuggest alternatives. My ChatSEO alternative page compares it in full.
BotSEO has a free Découverte plan: 5 AI actions a month, “Aucune carte bancaire requise”, no card required (botseo.fr, 29 October 2026). Starter costs €29 a month. You chat with an agent called Max, and the app publishes to WordPress, Wix and Shopify. Its main site, botseo.fr, is in French; English and Spanish versions live on botseo.io. An MCP server isn’t mentioned on the pages I read.
SemChat: chat with your site data from the Free plan
SemChat is the tool I tested. You type a sentence, it picks a skill and runs the tools for you. On 29 October 2026, I asked it in French for an SEO audit of my site and a plan by priority.

SemChat picks the full SEO audit skill on its own (French interface). Screenshot of the SemChat app (my account, Free plan), 29 October 2026.
About 3 minutes later, I had 8 KPIs, a 5-point diagnosis and 3 actions for the week. That’s the job Ubersuggest leaves to you: reading reports and deciding what to fix.
The catch: that one audit used 100% of the Free plan’s monthly quota. SEO tools took 28.9%, documents 39.2%, site analysis 32%. It resets each month. So on Free, you get one complete answer a month, not three small ones a day.
On the data side, SemChat can connect to MCP servers through a custom connector; an MCP server of its own isn’t mentioned. It lists 17 skills, from full audit to competitor analysis. Its publisher, ARCHI301, also publishes Haloscan, and SemChat uses Haloscan’s data in France; elsewhere it uses other providers it doesn’t name (e-mail of 29 October 2026). If your site targets the United States, keep that in mind: I haven’t measured SemChat’s US data.
How the three chat tools count your usage
Each conversational alternative measures your use in its own unit. Here’s what their pages say:
| Tool | Unit | Free tier | First paid plan |
|---|---|---|---|
| ChatSEO | credits, “1 credit = 1 message sent” | none; 30 credits during the 7-day trial | 100 credits a month (Starter, €29) |
| BotSEO | AI actions | 5 a month (Découverte) | 100 a month (Starter, €29) |
| SemChat | a monthly usage quota in tokens | one full audit used 100% of it in my test | Starter, €20 a month excl. tax |
Sources: ChatSEO pricing.md (30 October 2026), botseo.fr pricing (29 October 2026), SemChat pricing (30 October 2026) and my SemChat test (29 October 2026).
SemChat doesn’t publish what its quota buys in messages, so I can’t convert it. What I can say: on Free, plan for one big question a month. On ChatSEO, count your messages. On BotSEO, count your actions; its free plan also includes a first full diagnosis, according to its pricing page.
What SemChat costs after the Free plan
SemChat’s pricing page says: “Every feature, in every plan. Just pick your monthly usage.” Free is €0, “Try semchat with no credit card”.

SemChat’s pricing page: the Free plan at €0, then Starter at €20 a month. Screenshot of semchat.io/en/pricing, taken on 30 October 2026.
Then Starter at €20 a month, Pro 5x at €100 and Pro 20x at €200, excluding tax (semchat.io/en/pricing, read 30 October 2026). Billed yearly, Starter comes to €192, or €16 a month.
If you sign up through my link and subscribe within 2 weeks, you get 10% off for life, with no code to type (e-mail of 29 October 2026 from ARCHI301, SemChat’s publisher). Plan by plan, it’s on the SemChat pricing page. What it got right and wrong in my test is in the SemChat review.
Ubersuggest vs SemChat: two free plans, two ways to work
Ubersuggest Free gives you small daily portions with no end date: 3 searches a day, a weekly audit, a free extension. SemChat Free gives you one big answer a month, with a conversation and a plan at the end.
Neither is better in general. If you check one keyword a day, Ubersuggest wins on rhythm. If you want someone to read the reports for you once a month, SemChat wins on output.
The full duel, feature by feature, with prices and a buying checklist, is on the Ubersuggest vs SemChat page.
Ubersuggest pricing: monthly, yearly or lifetime, the right maths
Ubersuggest’s US-dollar price file lists Individual at $29 a month, $192 a year or $290 once; Business at $49, $326 or $490; Enterprise/Agency at $99, $657 or $990 (pricing.md, 30 October 2026). Prices are localised by region.
The yearly plan costs a bit less than seven months of monthly billing. The lifetime plan pays for itself in about a year and a half against yearly billing, if Ubersuggest is still what you want by then. The 24-month maths by profile, the trial and the refund rules are in my Ubersuggest pricing guide.
Ubersuggest free: what the free plan lets you do, and where it stops
The free account has no end date. Beyond the 3 daily searches, it includes the Chrome extension at 40 searches a day and the MCP server for Claude and ChatGPT. It stops at article generation, which is reserved for paid plans, and at a single project.
How to stretch it, and what the 7-day trial of the paid plans charges you after day 7, is in the Ubersuggest free guide.
That’s the field of Ubersuggest alternatives as of October 2026. Start with the free plans you can stack: Search Console, Ubersuggest Free, Semrush Free and Ahrefs Free. Pay for a suite when the daily limit costs you more than the plan. And if what you miss is someone to read the data for you, try SemChat’s Free plan on your most important page.
Frequently asked questions
How do you use Google Keyword Planner?
It lives inside Google Ads. Google's help says to “Go to Keyword planner within the Tools menu”, and that you must enter billing information to access basic features like “Get ideas for new keywords” (support.google.com, answer 7337243, read 30 October 2026). Type a few words about your business, then compare the ranges it gives with the volumes of your SEO tool.
Is there a free Ubersuggest alternative?
Several. Semrush Free asks for no card and gives 10 reports a day. Ahrefs Free covers the sites you own, with no card and no end date. SemChat Free costs €0 with no card, every feature included, but one full audit used its whole monthly quota in my 29 October 2026 test. BotSEO has a free Découverte plan with 5 AI actions a month, on a site in French.
Can you keep using Ubersuggest for free?
Yes. Ubersuggest's free account has no time limit: 3 searches or reports a day, 1 project, 25 tracked keywords and a 150-page weekly audit (help article updated 26 July 2025). Its Chrome extension adds 40 searches a day, and its MCP server works in Claude or ChatGPT with a free account.
Do you need to sign up to use Google Keyword Planner?
Yes, in practice. Keyword Planner sits in the Tools menu of Google Ads, and Google's help says you must enter billing information before basic features like getting new keyword ideas (answer 7337243, read 30 October 2026). That means a Google Ads account with billing details, even if you never run an ad.
